SCULPTURE

SPIRIT TOTEM FIGURES, 2010

I am drawn to the notion of giving a second life to old timber sourced from our former property in the Tweed Valley. In an animistic sense, the dead tree becomes the archetypal ‘mother’ from which other iconic forms or personages are born. These sculptures were all commissioned works.

RESONANCE 2001, ART BUILT-IN PUBLIC ART PROJECT, AIRLIE BEACH LAGOON

Based on a transient environmental work, this sculptural installation reflects aspects of local geography, history and culture.
Alluding to islands, sails, rudimentary dwellings of indigenous inhabitants and to the family, it invites viewer interpretation.
Light, shadows, complex reflections and the possibilities of spatial interaction are considered elements of the work.
