Emerging from a Hiatus…

My father died in 2005 aged 100 years leaving my mother alone without any family in Melbourne, indeed in Australia. A strong woman, she always said she wanted to go out of her home ‘feet first’. I found I could not leave her alone so remained in Melbourne with her for the next three years in the family home. Jon and I had a commuting relationship between Melbourne and Queensland.
My work was on hold. I joined a classical choral society as a creative outlet and a wonderful world opened up but eventually I became desperate to make art. I bought a pad and some oils pastels and began a series of drawings to get my hand back in while spending a few days at Lake Tyers in Gippsland with old friends. The series continued once back home in the tropics on the Coral Sea.
